Bookmaster
and Bookmaster Pro
.............................................................................................................. |
| Designed for maximum performance and cost effectiveness, the Bookmasters may be used off-line for hand feeding, or on-line to Watkiss Vario and Watkiss DigiVAC collators, as well as other manufacturers' bench-top and table-top collators. Intelligent bi-directional communication ensures collator and booklet maker both stop should any type of error occur.
The sheets are jogged at the end and on each side, both above and below the fold rollers, to ensure perfectly squared up sheets every time. |

|
They are then stapled with the unique BookMaster stapling system before being passed through steel fold rollers and an additional pair of crushing rollers to produce a neat crisp fold. Finished booklets are delivered onto a high capacity conveyor at an ergonomically comfortable height.
Stapling System
The BookMaster has a unique low impact stapling mechanism that ensures virtually maintenance free operation. The main wearing parts are included in the staple cartridge (rather than the staple head), and so they are replaced every 5,000 cycles when the cartridge is changed. In effect, changing the cartridge also services the staple head. As a result, over one million cycles can be run before maintenance is required. A sensor alerts the operator when the staple cartridge is nearly empty, and replacement takes only a matter of seconds.
Automatic Setup
A fully automatic version, the BookMaster Pro, has simple push button operation to adjust the
sidelays, endjog and staple/fold position. When used on-line with a Watkiss Vario or
DigiVAC+ collator, a single integrated control panel runs the entire system. When used off-line, or with other makes of collator, a separate control panel is available. Three memories automatically set-up for standard sheet sizes (A3, A4 and A5) whilst 6 other memories can store custom settings.

The change over from one booklet size to another is fully automated. All the settings for sheet size, fold and stitch position, book thickness and trim margin are set to within 0.1mm from the collator's integrated system control panel. There are pre-defined settings for A4, A5 and A6 books, plus over twenty other memories for storing frequent jobs.
Stitch-Fold Unit
Don't be deceived by its compact size, for inside the rugged Stitch-Fold are wire fed stitch-heads and a powerful knife folder, all contained within a double thickness 10 gauge steel box frame. Magnatek stitching heads are fitted as standard, with the option to specify Hohner 43/6 heads or Deluxe G5 heads if required. The entire unit is very compact, and when used online to Watkiss Vario collators, it fits underneath the collating tower, requiring no additional floor space.
The Stitch-Fold is unique in having a near vertical infeed of the collated set into the unit. This results in excellent sheet knock-up which, followed by tamping at the end and on both sides, ensures well aligned sheets and professional looking books every time.
