Mill
Accurate spine preparation is ensured by a strong mill and notching
teeth that can handle up to 32 page signatures. The milling height is
adjustable. (up to 4 mm can be milled off the bookspine) For increased
glue penetration the mill features three tungsten carbide notching teeth.
A powerful dust extractor automatically evacuates the paper dust.
Airtight PUR application device
There are multiple advantages to operate with a closed glue application
unit :
- The nozzle spine and side glues with PUR, all done in one shot.
- Optimized glue consumption, no glue remains. In an open tank
system the glue must be processed within a maximum of 4 hours.
- The glue is melted on demand , thus granting constant glue layer
quality. The glue is only melted on the surface, protecting the
remaining glue from thermal stress.
- The glue is prevented from premature curing, ensuring the material
remains useable for a long time. PUR is a reactive glue and can’t be
reheated. Once PUR fully cured it will no more later its consistency.
- Full flexibility at production is granted. With open tank systems, the
operator must achieve maximum productivity during the time the glue
can be processed (maximum 4 hours). Eventual remains must then
be discarded. With the MR 730 PUR instead, the operator can switch
over to another activity at any given moment without affecting the
quality of the ongoing production cycle.
- The extensive effort required to clean traditional open tank systems is
virtually eliminated with the MR 730 PUR.
The PUR application device contains :
1 PUR bulk melter
Bulk melter for curable PUR in pails of 20 kg. Consumption between 3 to
15 kg/h. Features a 280 mm fusion table melting the adhesive only on
the surface. ChemCoat non stick coating, vacuum protection/ gear pump.
1 heated PUR hose
Length 5 m , featured with a temperature control probe for optimal glue
viscosity.
Glue tank
The QUADRIMAX II features a large glue tank with two glue drums, two
side gluing wheels and a scraper that evens the glue layer. The front
side gluing wheel is motorized and can be controlled via the
touchscreen. The gluing length can also be controlled to avoid glue
overflow at the end of the spine. The glue fumes are evacuated by a
suction device.
Pneumati nipping station
Strong and heavy nipping jaws provide the required mechanical force to
form perfectly square bookspines. Even high grammaged covers
weighting over 400 g/m² or critical cover qualities can be handled. The
front and side positioning bars ensure the covers are accurately
registered on the nipping station. The nipping height can be adjusted via
2 setscrews.
Automatic Suction cover feeder
Large nonstop suction feeder featuring a blower for cover separation.
The cover stock position can be fine tuned by means of two setscrews.
Scoring
The cover feeder features two double scoring wheels (of which one is
motorized) for cover scoring and two single scoring wheels for eventual
flaps. The scoring depth can be adjusted by means of caliper levers.
The scoring depth can be fine tuned by means of a caliper lever.
Exit slide
The books are softly evacuated via an exit slide, thus even sensible
cover material is protected from being damaged.
The bound books can be temporarily stocked on a programmable
conveyor belt.
The QUADRIMAX II is a rock solid, heavy binder. The working surface is
made of cast iron, and the high duty binding mechanism ensures
consistent high quality binding. The machine is equipped with the finest
available components on the market. All pieces are manufactured and
adjusted to grant longevity and to reduce maintenance efforts to a
minimum.
